301 – Winnie Wide Legged Trousers

These trousers are perfectly stylish and conservative for a day in the office (wear them with a fitted t-shirt and a jacket or a fitted button down blouse) – or for going out, teaming them with sparkly stilettos and a fun top!

About the Winnie Wide Legged Trousers

Stylish, wide legged trousers with a curved waistband, rounded front pockets, an easy-to-sew fly front with a button or hook-and-eye closure and optional belt loops.
They look great in a drapey bottom weight fabric like a wool crepe, a viscose blend or a soft linen for summer. The silhouette of these trousers is close fitting at the hip area, and then floats into a very wide legged hem. The curved waistband sits right on the belly button and is great for keeping in any tummy fluff.

This multisized pattern includes all sizes from 34 (hip = 90 cm/35½”) to 46 (hip = 110 cm/43″). See image of size chart for further measurements.

This pattern is a .PDF download, which you will be able to download right after ordering. You can then print the pattern on your home printer (A4 or letter) and easily assemble it following the directions included in the instructions.

Recommended Fabric

This pattern is designed for woven fabric with or without stretch. You will need about 225 cm (2.5 yards) of fabric that is 140 cm (55″) wide.Choose a fabric of a medium weight with drape (i.e. not denim-like. You want the fabric to be able to drape along your legs). I like a wool crepe for winter and a viscose (rayon) blend for summer.

Additional Supplies

Fabric for the pocket lining and for the waistband facing – a soft lining or a remnant of poplin or soft cotton will be perfect. You need a piece that is about 40 cm x 70 cm (16″ x 28″).
Thread to match your fabric.
Interfacing for the waistband facing and the fly extension.
A 15 cm long plastic zipper (it can be longer, it’s easy to shorten it).
Trouser hook-and-eye or a button (about 2.5 cm (1″) in diameter).
