In this absolute beginner’s sewing class we are sewing an easy top or blouse with cut-on short sleeves over two Wednesday evenings (6.00 pm – 9 pm).

This class is for everyone interested in sewing their own clothes, no matter if you are an absolute beginner or if you want a refreshing course.

Skill level: Absolute beginner, beginner, intermediate

No sewing experience is required. The pattern is included in the class. Fabric & thread are available as kits or you can bring your own.

Description

In this absolute beginner’s sewing class, we are sewing an easy top or blouse with cut-on short sleeves over two Wednesday evenings. The pattern is included in the course.

This class is for everyone interested in sewing their own clothes, whether you are an absolute beginner or want a refreshing course.

When the class is finished, you have a cute finished top and the skills to sew most patterns. You will be ready to move on to more advanced wardrobe sewing LINK HERE

At the Sewing Life School, we want to teach you sewing skills so that you can make clothes you look and feel fabulous in!

Whether you are just starting out, sewed your kids’ clothes 20 years ago, or have been sewing non-stop for several years, there is always something new to learn: New types of fabrics, more efficient sewing techniques, how to make the clothes fit perfectly to your body shape, and all the new fun design hacks and ideas.

In Garment Sewing 101 you will learn how to:

 

  • Set up, thread, and use your sewing machine.
  • Work with garment sewing patterns
  • Measure and pick the right size
  • Prepare and cut fabric
  • Seam line and seam allowances.
  • Marking fabric
  • Pinning and sewing your top.
  • Pressing the seams
  • Hemming by machine

 

Skill level: Absolute beginner, beginner, intermediate. No prior sewing experience required

Materials and tools: Pattern included. Bring your own sewing machine. If you don’t have a machine available, you can borrow one. Please let us know at least two days before class if you need to.

Two weeks before the first class, you will receive a list of materials to bring (kits will also be available) and details about location, etc.

 

Because it is difficult to keep a social distance of 6 ft when helping with fitting and sewing, all students must be Up to date on CoVID-19 vaccines according to the current CDC guidelines [LINK HERE] before coming to class.

Class size is 3-8 students. If the class minimum is not reached, we might cancel the class. If that is the case, you will receive a full refund.

If you have to cancel, let us know (email: admin@mariadenmark.com or text to (201) 360 1952) as soon as possible and at least 72 hours prior to class. If available we will do our best to move you to a later class or help you re-sell your spot. If we are able to re-sell the spot, you will receive a refund minus 10%.
No other refunds or credits will be given for missed classes.  By registering for the class, you are agreeing to this cancellation policy.
