Questions & Answers about the Sewing Class for teens:

What will the students gain from this sewing class? Students will start learning using a sewing machine by cutting and sewing small projects such as pincushions, pillows or hair accessories.
Once the first couple of projects are made, they move on to working from simple sewing patterns and instructions and can sew bags, plushies, and even simple garments. Advanced students can work on individual projects.
Each student gets individual attention. We meet the student where they are, while focusing on developing their skills.

During the classes, the student learns

  • To thread a sewing machine
  • To measure accurately
  • To cut a project from measurements
  • To cut a project from a pattern
  • To mark fabric prior to sewing
  • To pin and sew accurately
  • To press seams
  • Most students will also learn to sew in a zipper during their first course.
