Today is my first work day as my own boss. As I joked with Lizzy, over the week-end on Twitter – I am the toughest boss I’ve ever had. Never satisfied. Always wanting more. Well. If I pay me well enough that we can make a living, I’ll be okay with that…
Anyway. So Of course I have to celebrate and share my joy and the best way to do THAT is to have a give away. Don’t you agree?
So this is what I have for you: Fabric.
Yep. I am cleaning the shelf (and the slate) and giving away 4 bundles of fabric – each containing 1.10 meter (150 cm wide) of a very nice quality 96% rayon (viscose) / 4% elastane black and cream printed jersey great for a Birgitte Basic Tee or a (short) knit dress + 50 cm high quality sturdy lavender or grey cotton/lycra ribbing (120 cm wide) with excellent recovery. The ribbing is great as waistband on knit pants or skirts but also very nice for neckline treatments or cuffs.
To win one of these very lovely fabric packages, here’s what to do:
- Go to my shop: MariaDenmark | ShopONION.com and figure out which pattern you like the most.
- Then copy the link found underneath the item into a comment along with the name/number of the pattern and anything else you’d like to add (like why you like it – it might help me when drafting new patterns:-))
To earn extra entries:
- Tweet about this give-away (including a link to this post) and leave a comment telling me about it (including you Twitter-name).
- “Like” MariaDenmark | ShopONION.com on Facebook and share the post about this give-away, then leave another comment, telling me you did so.
This giveaway ends on Monday October 16th 23.59 CET– and I’ll draw the 4 winners randomly from all the entries on the 17th. The winners will be contacted by e-mail and announced in a post. Although you can enter 3 times, please note, that there is a maximum of one package per person.
Now, go tell your friends about it:-)

I like 5036, I’ve made it once and I really should make it again (although I’ll make it a little longer in the future).
Thanks for the give away and good luck with the career move!
I also re-tweeted about the give away

102 – Birgitte Basic Tee. It’s good to have decent basics to make, ‘cos, let’s face it, I don’t really wear dresses.
Good luck with your new boss ;) I wish you success!
http://www.shoponion.com/default.asp?iid=1047
I really like 1047 at the moment (and have to see, if I already have it in my stash), since I have some lovely dark-teal boiled wool here lying around and it would make a lovely jacket. I’m looking for patterns, that you can make with boiled wool and all kinds of hip length vests would be awesome (hint hint ;) )
oh, I forgot to add: Told the world on Facebook too :)
I like pattern 101…the kimono tee…can not wait to try it.
http://WWW.shoponion.com/default.asp?iid=101
I love your patterns because they are so fashionable and unique not like the commercial patterns.
http://www.shoponion.com/default.asp?iid=5038
I absolutely love this top pattern! It is very forgiving of body imperfections, and it is SO well drafted that it can be made sleeveless with no gaping at the arm. I just made the kimono tee and it fit perfectly straight out of the envelope. Onion & Maria’s patterns are my go-to patterns!
http://www.shoponion.com/default.asp?iid=1041
1041 – Long Peplum Coat or Jacket
I love everything about this coat!! It’s on my winter wardrobe list. It’s such a cute style~ a little fitted yet also comfy. I can see that it would be fabulous either lined or unlined and different choices of fabrics would make it a cardy/jacket/coat. Just lovely :)
http://www.shoponion.com/default.asp?iid=MK20003 This is a good basic children’s pattern. I love the look!
This is my favourite pattern, all categories!
http://www.shoponion.com/default.asp?iid=101
Your patterns are flattering and made to fit real women!
congrats to you!! I like this pattern:
http://www.shoponion.com/default.asp?iid=2017
I absolutely Adore pattern 6010 – the beautiful cape! I love the way you can wear it during autumn & winter with layers underneath. Also it can be dressed up or down – and personalised to my unique style!
http://WWW.shoponion.com/default.asp?iid=6010
I also liked you on FB.
I have aldo liked & shared on facebook & will recommend to my sewing – friends :-)
I like a lot of your patterns but at the moment I think 201 is my favourite. This skirt could be made up in so many different fabrics that would make it casual, evening and everything in between.
http://www.shoponion.com/default.asp?iid=201
I would like patterns for casual and dressy pants where the top edge sits at waist level. This waistline would suit most women regardless of size and age.
I like pattern 5029…the tunic…it could be for summer or winter, for a tunic or a dress! magic pattern! http://www.shoponion.com/default.asp?iid=5029
thanks for the game

nice day!

2001 Basic Knit Dress. This pattern is elegant and classic. Just a couple of comments that might help with the USA market. Really pointy hoods aren’t popular here because of the KKK and is it possible to find a cheaper shipment method to the USA? Thank you for making these great patterns available to us.
Congrats on being your own boss! That is super cool : D
I love this tee: http://www.shoponion.com/default.asp?iid=5038
I live in knit tops, and adore this one because it’s basic but not too plain. The faux button-placket is great…no actual buttonholes! Awesome. I also like the curved hemline option, that is a nice touch on tees.
(And because I winter is coming, I also love these legging-tights: http://www.shoponion.com/default.asp?iid=0005 In a wool interlock they would be cozy with skirts and dresses!)

2017 – Knit top/tunic and dress
I like this pattern because it is a staple item that can be changed and made many different ways. I already “Like” your FB page. That’s how I found out about this giveaway. I will share your post.

2017 – Knit top/tunic and dress
This looks like a classic that could be made time and time again!
http://www.shoponion.com/default.asp?iid=102
I think at the minute I’m drawn to the Birgitte top most. Its simple and classic and good for winter layering with all the horrible weather that has started to hit!
Congrats on realising the dream! You’re joining the golden few and keep the rest of us thinking “maybe could turn this into a career”.
And I just retweeted on Twitter. I’m almondrock_sews :-)
I’ve been looking at lots of coat patterrns and I love this one:
http://www.shoponion.com/default.asp?iid=1038
Congrats on becoming your own boss :-)
Love your new coat pattern
http://www.shoponion.com/default.asp?iid=1041
It’s a classic shape with just a hint of feminine in the peplum. Love that it has the possibility of being dressed up or down…with jeans.
Congratulations on becoming you’re own boss, love your designs!
http://www.shoponion.com/default.asp?iid=5035
I like this pattern because it has a v-neck, which is more flattering to me (large bust). I also like the version with the seam down the center, allowing me to play with patterns, even making a chevron with a striped knit. This one pattern is so flexible for so many looks.
And congratulations on being your own boss. Don’t let perfectionism slow you down (my biggest fault).

This dress pattern is my absolute favorite, it can be made in various fabrics and accessorized to suit everyday wear or even a little nicer, Im also considering making it into a “Little Black Dress” maybe with a slightly altered neckline.
Oh and good luck in your new venture, Im sure many of us envy you!
Sincerly
Kirsten
I love the 1038 – Jacket with pipe collar http://www.shoponion.com/default.asp?iid=1038
I am so excited for your new venture. Thanks for offering the fabric…it´s really beautiful
Tweeted your giveaway…is there any chance we could buy the fabric if we didn’t get lucky!
Sorry, can’t find the links but my current favourite is 2036 – That 60s dress. I really need to buy that pattern! I also have a copy of 1031 – the uniform jacket which I am desperate to make and never have the time :¬(
Thanks for the giveaway!
Of course I like the Birgette Tshirt and the Yasmin skirt (I will shortly have three of them!).
So from the rest of the patterns on Shop Onion, I really like…
http://www.shoponion.com/default.asp?iid=2021
I really love shift dresses with tie belts, it’s a simple easy way to get something to fit you, define a waist and you can cinch it in or leave it tied loosely for a softer effect.
but I also have a soft spot for http://www.shoponion.com/default.asp?iid=5039 because it has a cowl neckline and a tie belt! And I do like http://www.shoponion.com/default.asp?iid=2034 as again it has a draped neckline and the sleeves are also sweet.
Sorry I’ll shut up now… :-)
oh but before I do, I also re-tweeted your giveaway…
#5039 – Cowl neck top/tunic
I like it because it looks so comfortable and cozy!

My favourite at the moment is #102 the Birgitte Basic Tee! I’m trying to build a entirely handmade wardrobe and I need some basics!
http://www.shoponion.com/default.asp?iid=102
I like the top http://www.shoponion.com/default.asp?iid=5036
I have made it as is and extended the button placket all the way down the front to make it easier to take on and off.
I find a woven top cooler than a knit top in the summer.
http://www.shoponion.com/default.asp?iid=5039 though last time I tried to sew anything it turned out way too small. But still keep the sewing machine in the living room, so perhaps I have not totally given up.
http://www.shoponion.com/default.asp?iid=MK50220
MK50220 – T-Shirts – This looks like a fabulous t-shirt pattern! My son lives in t-shirts and I’d love to start making my own. And this looks like the shirt isn’t too wide as my son is very slim.
Thanks for a chance to win! :)

Shared the giveaway post!
I really like the Sweatshirt 5024 http://www.shoponion.com/default.asp?iid=5024. I’m always cold in the winter and I love pockets and hoods; I would make the tunic length with the extra large pocket to snuggle my hands.
Hi
http://www.shoponion.com/default.asp?iid=2024 – I absolutely adore this dress and love the pink polka dot fabric. I am going to order the pattern shortly and make it for next summer. The only thing I would change is I would make it slightly longer – perhaps to my knees – but that’s just my personal preference.
I have facebooked your website as I think your patterns are absolutely gorgeous. I haven’t ordered anything yet but I will as soon as I get paid.
Can you please enter me into your free giveaway competition and I adore that black and white jersey fabric and would love to make one of your tunics out of it.
I look forward to seeing more of your designs which I have to my sewing group.
Keep designing!
All the best,
Vicky
